Change your approach to reaching out to bloggers
Could a strategy shift in your outreach to bloggers make a big difference in success and coverage? Paul Dyer says yes and I tend to agree. Paul puts out what seems to be a simple distinction in how you reach out to reporters and bloggers. He says you pitch reporters but you alert bloggers. An alert should be short email, maybe 4-5 sentences, and doesn't need to convince.
Paul also says that if less than 40% of the bloggers you reach out to are covering your issue, then you're doing something wrong. What is your success rate in reaching out to bloggers?
Please take a few minutes to read Paul's full post for tips on alerts and what to avoid. This is a really well written post with clear instructions. And Paul provides links to folks who think differently as well if you're not quite convinced that his suggested approach is the right one for you.
