On May 20th, Green Media Toolshed is pleased to host an Ask the Reporter Session with Richard K Judy, an experienced PR professional at the corporate and nonprofit level.

After earning a Journalism Degree from the University of Georgia, Richard began a career as a general assignment newspaper reporter and freelance business reporter. His experience includes numerous media relations and crisis communications training for Amoco Corporation, BP America, U.S. Green Building Council, and Propex Fabrics. He finished at BP America in 2003 after having risen to director of public affairs for the Southeast U.S.

In addition to these corporate ventures, he has served on the board and volunteered at a variety of non profits, including the National Wildlife Federation, CHARIS Community Housing, The Nature Conservancy, the Chattahoochee Nature Center, and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He served for two years as executive director of EarthShare of Georgia, the Georgia chapter of a national workplace giving organization.

Richard is currently the president of the board of directors of Appalachian Education and Recreation Services (AERS), the nonprofit that governs the Len Foote Hike Inn, an educational backcountry inn in the North Georgia. Read a recent press release about the Inn and find more information at www.hike-inn.com. Amidst these responsibilities, he also continues work as a writer, editor and PR consultant.

As an outdoorsman himself, Richard has hiked from Maine to Georgia on the Appalachian Trail and bicycled from Los Angeles to Savannah Beach. When he joins us next week, he will be almost finished with a section hike of the entire Appalachian Trail.
