Viva Sierra Gorda Works to Earn Validation Under Carbon Standards
Green Media Toolshed is excited to share some big developments in the work of one of our member organizations, Viva Sierra Gorda. Viva Sierra Gorda works to raise awareness and support conservation and the sustainability of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve in Mexico. This Reserve has the most bio-diversity of all the protected areas in Mexico and its preservation is essential to ensure that this diverse area can thrive.
The Biosphere Reserve will become the first in Mexico to receive validation under two global carbon market standards the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Standard. This project works to meet these standards through small reforestation projects that local area farmers undertake. These validations are important in recognizing the efforts that have been implemented by these local farmers and conservationists in strengthening the economic value of conservation.
To find out more about the recent accomplishments of Viva Sierra Gorda please check out a recent press release and also be sure to check out their website . If you have any questions regarding this news or the work of Viva Sierra Gorda please contact their Director Laura Perez-Arce by email at laura@sierragorda.net or by telephone at (415)390-2201.
