Experience Revamping Our Newsletter
As some of our members know, the Green Media Toolshed Membership Team has been working to revamp our newsletter so it’s more useful and relevant to our members. I’ve been researching newsletter references, polling our current members (take the survey here - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KCQQ8NN) and analyzing our newsletter statistics to make decisions about the future of the GMT newsletter.
We use the newsletter to pass on important GMT announcements, communications resources and database tips. To make sure our newsletter stays relevant and useful, we will continue to update and revamp our newsletter program based on our members’ needs.
During my researching, I came across this chart from Constant Contact. This is a chart of open rates, click-through rates and bounce rates categorized by industry. Nonprofit newsletters have a 20% open rate, 5.8% bounce rate and a 12.3% click-through rate. Of the business types listed, crafts had the highest open rate (23%), consultants had the highest bounce rate (8.0%) and publishing had the highest click-through rate (27.6%). I found these statistics pretty interesting. I actually thought nonprofit newsletters would have higher stats than they do. You can view the rate chart here: http://bit.ly/ezBjFV.
We’re excited about the changes we’re making to our newsletter program and would love our members’ feedback. Please fill out our anonymous 12-question survey to help improve the newsletter program here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KCQQ8NN. We’d love to hear your feedback.
